We walk from central Tbilisi to Kojori, usually around 3 hours on foot, with views over the city, forest and breaks along the way. Then we take the bus back to Freedom Square together for 1 GEL. No car or overnight stay needed. A good option when you want to get into the hills and still have some of the day left. It also works well as a regular walk to keep fit and prepare for longer mountain hikes.

How the hike works
We meet at the pedestrian underpass exit near Parliament, on the School No. 1 side of the corner of Rustaveli Avenue and Zakaria Chichinadze Street, at a time agreed beforehand. We start walking from there. The recorded track is 12.8 km with about 1,115 m of ascent. There is a fair amount of climbing, worth keeping in mind if you have not hiked for a while.
We take one and a half proper breaks along the way: at the gazebo halfway along the route and at the highest point, around 1,413 m. Trekking poles and footwear with good grip are recommended. Bring water, snacks and clothes for the weather too. Expect possible snow and mud in winter.
The return bus takes around half an hour. Allow up to an hour including the wait. Our usual estimate is to set off at 8 a.m. and be home around noon. That depends on our pace, the weather and how far you live from Freedom Square.
We are very dog friendly, so dogs are welcome. Just tell us beforehand if you are bringing yours. The administrator awards one Kojori Coin for completing the full route. The track is attached below: open the map, check the climb or download the GPX.
